Passport gone
- Search everything first. Be certain.
- Police station. Get a report with a reference number.
- Embassy emergency line. Ask for the fastest option.
- Insurer. Give them the police reference.
- Ask what the emergency document actually permits.
Medical
- Life-threatening: nearest hospital now. Ask your accommodation which.
- Serious but not immediate: call insurance first, let them direct you.
- Manageable: pharmacy or walk-in clinic.
- Have blood type, allergies and medications readable.
Flight cancelled
- Ask: within your control, or extraordinary circumstances?
- Photograph the board. Keep every boarding pass.
- Ask explicitly for meals, drinks, hotel if overnight.
- Ask for refund or rerouting, including other airlines.
- File the claim after the trip, in writing.
No money access
- What-if pouch. Backup card. Emergency cash.
- Bank's international line.
- Insurance emergency line.
- Your person at home.
- Embassy last. They do not give out money.
If everything is wrong at once
Sit down. Hold something warm.
In for four. Hold for seven. Out for eight. Twice.
Do not decide anything for twenty minutes.
You have not failed. This is the part nobody photographs and everybody remembers.
